Candace King Weir, President
Candace King Weir founded C.L. King & Associates in 1972. As Founder and President of one of the first woman-owned broker/dealer FINRA-registered firms, she has directed the growth and development of C.L. King into a well-respected institutional research boutique and investment bank. Ms. Weir began her career in 1968 as an associate in corporate finance with Blyth & Co. In 1984, C.L. King began managing money for high-net-worth clients and successful entrepreneurs. Ms. Weir also founded an investment advisory business, Paradigm Capital Management, in 1994. She serves as Director, President and Chief Investment Officer for Paradigm Capital Management. Ms. Weir received her BA from Vassar College.
Chris Edwards, Executive Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, Head of Fixed Income
Chris Edwards joined C.L. King as Managing Director of the Fixed Income Group in 2007 after 20 years in various roles at First Albany Corp. Mr. Edwards ran retail trading at First Albany and subsequently founded and led its Middle Markets Group, which focused on the proprietary trading of all fixed-income products and became First Albany’s most consistent performer. Mr. Edwards has led the expansion and success of C.L. King’s Fixed Income Group during his tenure. He is a graduate of Fordham University, where he received a BS in Economics and earned the accreditation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) in 1995. Mr. Edwards was appointed Chief Operating Officer on January 1, 2015.
Robert Benton, Senior Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer
Rob Benton joined C.L. King in 2001 as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Prior to C.L. King, Mr. Benton was at KeyCorp, lastly as Director of Finance for its Electronic and Technology Services business, having held positions of increasing responsibility in corporate and division finance at the firm since 1986. Before KeyCorp, Mr. Benton was with KPMG. He earned a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Vermont and is a CPA.
Mitch Meisler, Senior Managing Director, Head of Equities, Director of Institutional Sales
Mitch Meisler joined C.L. King in 2005 as Senior Vice President and Research Sales Director. He became C.L. King’s Head of Equities in 2013. Mr. Meisler was previously managing director, Capital Markets division at C.E. Unterberg, Towbin, where during his six-year tenure he held numerous positions including director of Institutional Sales, director of Strategic Planning, manager of the Private Client Group, operations manager and institutional salesperson. He was also previously affiliated with PaineWebber, Ernst & Company and Lehman Brothers. Mr. Meisler earned his MA from New York University and is a graduate of the State University of New York Binghamton.
Scott White, Senior Managing Director, Head of Investment Banking
Scott White joined C.L. King in 2009, founding the investment banking group by building on the firm’s strengths in the capital markets. Mr. White leads the group and is responsible for managing the firm’s relationships with corporations. He is a 17-year veteran of Credit Suisse, Citigroup and Bank of America and has worked on hundreds of investment banking transactions representing more than $200B of securities. Prior to C.L. King, he was a Managing Director for five years at Bank of America, responsible for the Consumer & Retail sector and former Head of West Coast Mid-Cap Investment Banking. At Citi, he covered industrial companies and headed the Environmental Services franchise. In the late 90s, Mr. White was EVP of Corporate Development at Budget Rent a Car, where he oversaw acquisitions totaling $2.5B in revenues and headed Investor Relations. He began his career as a financial analyst at The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse). Mr. White earned a JD and a BA with Highest Honors from the University of Texas at Austin, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
