Steven L. Marotta, CFA, Managing Director, Director of Research
Steven L. Marotta joined C.L. King in 2010 as Senior Vice President of Equity Research focusing on the footwear and apparel sectors within the consumer/retail industry. Notably, Thomson Reuters StarMine named Steve its #1 stock picker, Textiles, Apparel and Luxury Goods for 2012, out of 37 analysts.
Steve began his career in 1992, primarily following consumer-related companies. Prior to joining C.L. King, Steve worked for eight years on the buy side as a research analyst with Maple Leaf Partners, Wyper Capital Management and Diker Management. Previously, he spent more than 10 years on the sell side, lastly at Wasserstein Perella. During his tenure at Wassertein, Steve was named #1 analyst in Textile & Apparel category by the Wall Street Journal’s “Best on the Street” survey and was ranked as a runner-up in a subsequent survey.
Steve is a Chartered Financial Analyst and member of the CFA Institute and the New York Society of Security Analysts. He holds an MA in Economics from the State University of New York at Albany and a BA in Economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
George J. Godfrey, Senior Vice President and Senior Research Analyst
George Godfrey, who joined CL King in March 2015, has more than 20 years of sell-side and buy-side experience, most recently as a senior analyst at Surveyor Capital in Boston from 2012-2014. Before that, he held buy-side analyst and/or portfolio manager positions with Kingdon Capital, Putnam Investments and Columbia Management from 2002 through 2012. Between 1994 and 2002, George was a sell-side analyst at a number of prominent firms, including Dean Witter Reynolds, Rodman and Renshaw, Raymond James Financial and ABN Amro.
George has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from the University of Rochester.
Scott L. Stember, Senior Vice President and Senior Research Analyst
Scott Stember, who joined C.L. King in 2015 as a Senior Analyst covering the automotive aftermarket and recreation and leisure industries, has 25 years of Wall Street experience. Notably, Thomson Reuters StarMine named Scott its #2 stock picker in Automotive Components for 2017.
Scott began his sell-side research career more than 18 years ago and was most recently at Sidoti & Company, where he was a founding member in 1999 and covered the automotive, automotive aftermarket and recreation/leisure sectors. While at Sidoti, he was consistently ranked in the top quartile among its analysts. Prior to that, Scott was an equity research analyst at Schroders from 1997-1999, a senior accountant in the equities division at NatWest Markets from 1993-1997, a mutual fund accountant at Dean Witter Reynolds from 1990-1993, and a junior accountant at a Long Island-based accounting firm from 1989-1990.
Scott has an MBA in Finance from Dowling College and a B.A. in accounting from Queens College.
